My gurudeva mercifully told me, "Reject your knowledge, purity, and aristocracy and come close to me. Don't go anywhere else. Whatever you require - as many rooms, houses, palaces, and mansions, as much scholarship, skills, self-control, and renunciation - you will get. Simply come to me. 'Let there be a house, let there be an entrance, let there be learning' - do not be enamored by this type of thinking. Do not consider as necessities that which ordinary people accept as such."
I was a fearsome debater. But with great kindness my gurudeva kicked out my pride in debating. Even in unlimited millions of lifetimes I will not be able to find limit of his compassion, nor will anyone else be able to do so. Although I am unfit, he recognized me as his servant, thus fulfilling my cherished desire, by which I may live forever.

(Bhaktivikasa Swami, Sri Bhaktisiddhanta Vaibhava, ch. 2)

Mj gurudva mi milostiv ekl: "Zavrhni sv znalosti, istotu a aristokracii a pij ke mn. Necho nikam jinam. Ve, co bude potebovat - mnoho pokoj, dom, palc a sdel, mnostv uenosti, dovednost, sebeovldn a odkn - to dostane. Sta, kdy pijde ke mn. 'Nech mm dm, nech mm vchod, nech mm uenost' - nenech se ommit tmto druhem uvaovn. Nepovauj za nutnosti to, co za n povauj obyejn lid."
Byl jsem obvan debatr. Mj gurudva vak s velkou laskavost odkopl mou hrdost v debatovn. Ani v neomezench milionech ivot nebudu moci najt hranici jeho soucitu, a nepoda se to ani nikomu jinmu. Pestoe toho nejsem hoden, uznal m za svho sluebnka, a tak splnil moji touhu, dky n mohu t vn.

On hearing of this episode, [Gaurakishora dasa] Babaji Maharaja chastised his disciple [Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura] and forbad him from further participation in such functions, saying: "Devotion to Krsna can never arise at hodgepodge meetings. Even within unlimited millions of universes it is difficult to find a devotee of Krsna. A Vaisnava is absoutely independent. Therefore, to congregate hundreds of thousands of Vaisnavas is possible solely in Lord Caitanya's pastimes. So go to Mayapur, remain alone, and just chant Hare Krsna." Then Babaji Maharaja stuck a few bamboo poles in the ground and hung a cadara over them. Declaring it a place of Vaisnava gatherings and that an assembly of devotees had convened thereunder, he chanted and danced ecstatically.

I v neomezench milionech vesmr je obtn najt oddanho Kriny. Vainava je absoutn nezvisl. Proto shromdit statisce vainav je mon pouze v zbavch Pna aitanji. Jdi tedy do Mjpuru, zsta sm a jen zpvej Hare Krina." Pak Babd Mahrda zarazil do zem nkolik bambusovch ty a povsil nad nimi adar.
